I just walked in from going to see No Reservations, the much talked-about Scott Hicks creation. “I want three words to describe this wine”, well I’ll use three words to describe this film: attentive-to-detail; delicious; and warming. Speaking of wine, I love Hicks’ plug of the South Australian, Adelaide Hills product (presumably his own) in the first 20-minutes. Anyways, enough of that snooty talk (takes a sip of wine) on with my thoughts.

I have read a few negative, or “lowly” reviews of the film, but in terms of stars or “rotten tomatoes” I can’t really agree with them. I thought the film was lovely. Even as someone who isn’t a great fan of the USA, I really have an urge to visit New York City now; particularly the neighborhood No Reservations was filmed in. Admittedly, the plot is heavy with predictability it’s tied together nicely with emotion, yummy food and the beautiful Mrs Douglas, urm, Zeta-Jones. Certain parts really pull on the heart-strings but from this I formed a deeper appreciate of my loved ones. Foremost, the film has you wanting to head to a restaurant just like 22 Bleeker to enjoy game with truffle sauce.

If I were to be wanky and give No Reservations an out-of-ten rating, I’d say 8… Two marks are left-out due to the predictability but hey, everything has been done…
